Description: The Bimac Anthias are beautiful, active fish that would be a wonderful addition to larger, reef or fish-only aquaria. This fish inhabits coastal drop-offs in the Indo-Western Pacific. These anthias are sexually dimorphic, where males and females have different coloration. They are also sequential hermaphrodites. All of the Bimac Anthias are born female; the largest, most aggressive female will transition into the male of the group. If the dominant male happens to perish, the next largest female will take his place. Bimac Anthias are usually found in harems with one male and multiple females. Male Bimac Anthias are a vibrant pink with purple and orange patterns running throughout the body. Males also sport two black spots on the dorsal fin. Females are also bright pink, but they have vibrant yellow fins. It is important to provide plenty of swimming room and rockwork. This fish has a higher metabolism than most, so it is important to feed them protein-rich, fatty foods at least twice a day.
