Description: This Australian variant of the Harlequin Tusk has more vibrant, orange horizontal stripes running along its white body. These stripes have iridescent, blue highlights that outline the pattern. This fish also sports bright blue teeth that are used to crush the shells of its invertebrate prey. The Australian Tusk is one of the most vibrantly colored fish that can be displayed in a fish-only or FOWLR aquarium. Tusks should not be put into reef tanks as they will prey upon crustaceans and clean-up crews. This is a great fish for beginner aquarists as it is hardy and will accept all prepared foods. A tight-fitting lid is highly recommended as this fish can jump out of the aquarium. It is best to house this fish with other large, semi-aggressive tank mates. Use caution when mixing the Australian Tusk with other large wrasses. As a small juvenile, this fish can be more timid in nature; however, as it grows, it will grow more confident and display its boisterous personality.
