Description: This tang species is a semi-challenging marine fish. They are not ideal for beginner aquarists due to the fact that they are prone to parasites (ich), and therefore a UV is a must! The White-Spine Tang originates from the Indo-Pacific. As a juvenile, this fish is a gray-ish, blue color with a yellow caudal fin and white peduncle spine. When the White-Spine Tang grows into adulthood, it turns gray in color with white lips and dark coloration around the mouth. It still keeps that iconic, white peduncle spine. Use caution when mixing tang species! We do not recommend mixing this fish with other Acanthurus sp. tangs that have similar body shapes. This fish will appreciate plenty of room to swim, ample rock work, and a varied diet with both meat-based foods and seaweed!
