Description: These crabs are only suitable in a semi-terrestrial or paludarium setup since they need to be able to get out of the water to breath. They like a high humidity environment, with the humidity being as high as 75%. They do like for there to be enough water that they can cover their bodies, but they need to be able to make it onto land easily. These crabs are very popular due to their orange bodies and bright yellow eyes. Staying on top of water changes is important so that they do not run into trouble molting. Males tend to be larger with brighter claws. They do tend to climb out of tanks, so a tight fitting lid is extremely important. In the wild, they live in dense forests near rivers and streams, so they appreciate a heavily planted setup with lots of driftwood and rocks to climb on. It is recommended to have 2 females for every male. A section of sand is recommended since the Orange Vampire Crabs like to burrow.
