Description: This is a friendly (peaceful) barb that fits in smaller community tanks. This fish originates from Sri Lanka, and its bright coloration, along with the fact that it’s quite hardy, makes it a popular choice for beginner aquarists. The males get a bright orange color, while the females get a bright yellow color across their bodies. Barbs are schooling fish in the wild and do best (especially males) in odd-numbered groups in captivity, because it helps them feel comfortable by creating a group dynamic. All barbs are somewhat herbivorous, and can occasionally be seen nipping on plant leaves, but this variety is generally considered plant safe.
We recommend using a drip line to acclimate this fish. Click here!
