Description: This peaceful fairy wrasse originates from lagoons and seaward reefs in the Central Western Pacific, specifically the Marshall Islands. Females are more plain in color, with a white belly and a dusty red-purple color running along the dorsal side of the fish. Males display a larger variety of vibrant colors, especially when courting a female. Male specimens still have a white belly and red eyes, similar to female specimens; however, they have a multitude of colors, including pink-purple and yellowish-green. Males will also have a prominent, orange-pink spot near the pectoral fins on both sides of the body. The Belted Fairy Wrasse would make a colorful, active addition to peaceful reef aquaria. They will happily consume all prepared foods, including pellet and frozen foods. A tight-fitting lid is strongly recommended, as this fish can easily jump out of the aquarium.
