As an adult, this wrasse has a dark body with black spots, red outlining the fins, and an orange face with a blue diagonal stripe. As a juvenile, this fish is relatively reef-safe, but will start overturning rocks and hunting crustaceans as an adult. This fish needs a large aquarium with a thick sandbed. A tight fitting lid is highly recommended.
