Description: The Fahaka Puffer is native to East, Northeast, and west Africa, inhabiting the Nile River system and other rivers and lakes in East and central Africa. They are loved for their very interactive personality and a lovely yellow or cream body with dark, vertical stripes or bands. The stripes can vary in intensity and number, providing camouflage in their natural habitat. They can be quite smart and involved fish, and will try to nip their tank mates if given the opportunity. DO NOT house with any snails or shrimp, as these fish WILL eat them. We recommend keeping them alone or with larger, fast, constant swimming fish at your own risk. These fish prefer planted tanks with much room for grazing and wallowing. They can be kept in low level brackish aquariums with 1.005 salinity; Like all puffers, they can potentially inflate under stress, which is not good for their health. It's recommended to avoid causing stress to these fish for that reason.
