Description: Longnose Hawkfish are primarily distributed in the Indo-Pacific, with two species originating in the tropical western and eastern Atlantic Ocean. Most species are found in shallow water, with some being found at depths of up to a few hundred feet. They are easily distinguished by the lack of a swim bladder. They have wonderful personality, and are fun to watch as they will "perch" on rocks (due to lack of a swim bladder). They get along fine with crustaceans that are larger than its mouth, as they will prey on small shrimps that are small enough to fit in its gullet. They can sometimes become territorial after being in the same system for a long time. They get along fine with almost all other marine fish, due to their unique body shape; however, mixing hawkfish species should be done with caution and in a larger aquarium.
