Description: This rare cichlid is listed as extinct in the wild by various conservation authorities. Captive breeding this rare species is part of the "Species survival plan." In its natural habitat it was a surface dweller, feeding on insects and zooplankton. During breeding season they turn pitch black with red fins and gold egg spots, hence the common name "Pitch black fulu." When it is not breeding season, this fish shows a more metallic green color. This fish originates naturally from Lake Victoria. They require hard water with a higher pH, along with a varied diet including seaweed and pellets.
