Description: The Anthoides Hogfish has an orange face, a white body with a spotted red pattern, and a lyretail-shaped caudal fin. This large wrasse originates from the Indo-Pacific and the Red Sea. This fish is one of the less aggressive species of hogfish and should be kept in a larger, fish-only aquarium with plenty of room to swim. This fish may be added to a reef aquarium, WITH CAUTION, as it will not eat coral, but it will prey upon clean-up crew invertebrates. Provide plenty of hiding places for the Anthoides Hog to make it easier for the fish to acclimate to the tank. A tight-fitting lid is a must as this fish can easily jump out of the aquarium. As a juvenile individual, this fish acts as a cleaner by eating parasites off of larger fish; however, this behavior disappears as they reach maturity. The Anthoides Hogfish will appreciate a variety of meaty frozen foods and should be housed with other semi-aggressive fish.
